Our member in Mexico, PEI (Programas Educativos Interculturales) recently held their first General Assembly to share memories and explore visions for the future. Members of the Board, Project Managers, German and Mexican volunteers, staff, hosts and old Experimenters came together for the afternoon. The history of PEI was recounted; and experiences, ideas and pictures were shared with the new generation.
Other friends of PEI joined the group for dinner at the American Legion Restaurant–the site of their founding meeting–in 2006. During dinner, Mexican volunteers talked about their experiences in Florianópolis, Brazil , where they worked with kids in disadvantaged areas of Brazil. Since being back in Mexico, they have supported the Seminar for International Volunteers by leading groups in art, movement and human rights.
The night culminated with Salsa classes and lots of dancing. A cultural exchange indeed!
