The “Getting ready for Europe 2020: Advanced course in social entrepreneurship key skills” workshop was recently hosted by AIPC Pandora in Madrid, Spain from May 5-9, 2014 . This challenging and stimulating course attracted 26 participants from 6 different organizations including: Experiment e.V.( EIL Germany), Thaqafat Association ( EIL Morocco), AIPC Pandora (EIL Spain), The Experiment in Turkey and IYDA from Egypt. The program was made possible by The Erasmus + Program of the European Commission. This workshop is a Youth in Action Program.
The main purpose of the workshop was to teach competencies and skills to young people~ so that they can participate in and lead social movements. This “learning by doing” methodology generated a lot of active participation. The workshop was also a wonderful way for the young people to meet peers from other countries and understand some of the issues that unite them.
AIPC Pandora’s, Ana Eseverri and Paula Alanso organized the event together with German volunteer, Mira Puetz. They describe the workshop in this way, “We set up the workshop as a living lab. While working on specific projects we practiced cutting edge methodologies (art of hosting, action learning, design thinking, lean start up, and agile project) and cultivated specific skills which helped us to focus on the purpose, show our uniqueness and connect with others. This approach was successful in nurturing a community among participants.”
Many participants responded positively to the experience saying: “I will remember this seminar in Madrid as the moment where I began to believe in myself.” and also “I loved working together and share our opinions, culture and own experiences.” These empowered youth are facing the challenges and successes of our future. Together.
