As commemorations for International Women’s Day are underway in all corners of the globe, the 57th Commission on the Status of Women is holding the largest-ever UN assembly on ending violence against women. An unprecedented 6,000 representatives of civil society are registered to attend the meeting this year; including 19 delegates from Federation EIL.
More than a dozen students from SIT Graduate Institute traveled to New York in order to participate in this annual conference. Additionally, Federation EIL’s UN delegate, Connie Crosson, will attend the International Women’s Day panel this Friday, the 8th of March at the UN. Michelle Bachelet, Executive Director of UN Women, delivered this address on behalf of the occasion:
Another highlight of International Women’s Day is the launch of the song, “ One Woman!” 25 musicians from 20 countries came together to create this work as a rallying cry to listeners around the globe:

Federation EIL has held consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a nongovernmental organization in Category II since 1978. In 1989, Federation EIL was recognized as a Peace Messenger organization by the United Nations Secretary General.
