HomestaysDiscover the difference between visiting a country and living in a country! Join our selected host families for individual stays of up to 4 weeks to discover and experience the day to day life, culture, people and places in the country of Chile. (Upon request, opportunities with volunteer projects or language programs are also available.)

We also organize homestays for institutions and other specific groups that want to have a deeper cultural experience in Chile.

Teen Group TravelTake advantage of this interactive group learning opportunity for international participants. Discover not only South American culture, but also Chilean culture in particular.

21 days of direct daily exposure to people, language, places and sites will help participants gain a first-hand understanding of the similarities, differences and influences of Spanish and other cultures in Chile’s daily life.

Meet with local youth, organizations and authorities to exchange views on different issues. Explore cities, neighborhoods and other points of cultural interest to discover Chile’s history, architecture and people. Enjoy practical survival Spanish language lessons. Discover the Mapuche ethnic group and its region. Experience new realities by contributing with simple but meaningful volunteer work. Program open all year round.

 

High School AbroadThe Chile high school exchange program provides a firsthand cultural experience in living with a Chilean host family and becoming an everyday student at a public or semi-public high school.

During the academic year, semester or short term (19 weeks) program, students get to know a new culture, language and people. Most of all, they get to know themselves better by gaining a deeper understanding of their strengths and weaknesses as they face new situations that develop maturity and self-confidence.

Included in the program is a three week cultural and Spanish language immersion in Santiago City that is fundamental in preparing the students for their overall experience at their final destination and school. Students are supported by local representatives throughout the entire length of their program. This meaningful learning experiences will shape your future as you grow academically and expand your understanding of the world, other people and yourself.

Language TrainingEIL Chile has a special department for Spanish language training and immersion programs for individual or group courses. If you are looking for a course to learn, improve or meet your specific language purposes, we have the right option for you. Focusing on effective communication, you will very rapidly feel comfortable using Spanish in daily life situations.

Group courses start the first Monday of every month and may last from 2 weeks up. They may include a homestay, hostel or hotel accommodations, plus meals, study materials, airport pick up and all other necessary details to facilitate your language immersion experience.

VolunteerVolunteer your time to make a difference–EIL Chile has a number of volunteer projects in conjunction with the government, local NGOs and charity organizations where the presence of volunteers is most valued.

Volunteers may choose projects in fields such as: education, social welfare, health care, and recreation & youth development, among others. Depending on program choice, you may choose from 2 to 12 or more weeks.

Programs components include: airport pick up upon arrival, 1 night stay in Santiago city upon arrival, program orientation, half day city excursion in Santiago, homestay or on site accommodation with half board during project development, round trip bus ticket to final project, local mentor and 24/7 EIL coordinator and support.

You may also choose to add other components to your program experience like Spanish language training, survival Spanish course, Outdoor activities, cultural or sports activities, and one full day excursion out of Santiago city.

Adult Group TravelSince 1998 EIL Chile has developed a number of thematic and diversified programs for US adults in conjunction with Road Scholar and other organizations. These successful educational and cultural travel opportunities offer participants the ability to experience the country first-hand with close insights into specific subject matters.

Programs include: Chile a Land of Poets (Central Chile), Colonizers at the End of the World (South Patagonia experience), Two Different Worlds (Atacama Desert & Easter Island), Mapuche People and North Patagonia, among others. Our local experts can help you design the most rewarding experience and program for your target group–all over Chile.

Customized GroupsDue to its size and diversity, Chile offers many different options for customized programs. These may include, homestays, cultural experiences, adventure travel, nature observation and excursions, service projects, sightseeing, language learning and exchange, or thematic projects.

Youth exchangeYouth exchange: EIL Chile has consistently worked with school, youth, government and non-government organizations to develop youth exchange programs in one of the safest and most stable countries in South America.

Academic Plus Volunteer Chile/New Zealand: As Specialist Agents recognized by Education New Zealand, we offer Academic Plus Alternatives for international students who would like to experience Chile during or after their academic terms, semesters or year in New Zealand. This is part of an initiative to provide world exposure to international students.

Assistant Volunteer Teacher of EnglishAssistant Volunteer Teacher of English: Since 2004, EIL Chile has supported the initiative of the Chilean Ministry of Education to recruit native speakers of English. These volunteer teacher assistants support English teachers in public schools throughout the nation.

This nationwide effort aims to turn Chile into a bilingual country by exposing Chilean students to native speakers so as to foster their use of the language. EIL Chile works with selected world partners and EIL offices to recruit volunteers and offers them a comprehensive language and cultural immersion week prior to their joining the teaching immersion week provided by the Ministry of Education.

Volunteers receive homestay accommodation, half board, language/cultural training and seminars, teaching methods lessons and a full day excursion. During the program, volunteers are given a small stipend, free accommodation and board. Program length 4 or 8 months. More information at: eilchile@experiment.cl

Explore dramatic Andean vistas, lush forests, and sweeping desert landscapes during a remarkable summer of service, travel, and cultural adventure.

A summer with the Experiment in Chile will challenge you to use and improve your Spanish language skills and directly engage you in Chilean life and culture through community service, outdoor/ecological adventure, and travel. Both programs include an orientation in Santiago and a homestay.
