The exchange industry is becoming increasingly demanding, with international arrivals growing. Estimates by WYSE Travel Confederation and the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) indicate that youth travel accounted for 23% of all international arrivals in 2017, or 304 million trips. We believe there is a growing, collective concern with the lack of quality and accountability in the intercultural exchange field. Federation EIL has addressed this concern by establishing a set of principles and standards in the form of a certification to strengthen organizations, build trust among partners, funders and participants, and ultimately promote more impactful exchanges.
